Missy Elliott Shares New Music, Confirms 2019 Album Release

It’s been an eventful week for Missy Elliott. After joining Ciara on stage at this year’s American Music Awards, many speculated that Missy’s increased stage presence this year may be a sign of more to come.

Fans have waiting for over a decade for Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott to release a follow-up to her 2005 album, The Cookbook. Since then the famed rapper has released some additional singles and appeared as a guest on other artists’ tracks, but she never announced plans to release another LP... until now.

Responding to a tweet from the Recording Academy GRAMMY’s account, Missy Elliott confirmed plans for a 2019 album and said, “You can expect nothing but 🔥🔥🔥 records and people going back to dancing nonstop!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾All Facts! Thank you @RecordingAcademy love yall🤗❤️.”

If that wasn’t enough to get fans excited, Missy Elliott proceeded to share snippets of various songs expected to appear on the album throughout the week. The songs are tentatively titled 'Cool Off' and 'High'.

For fans hoping Missy will release new music before the holidays – they will have to wait just a little bit longer. She shared that her record label, Atlantic Records, will not let her release new music until 2019. Missy’s got your back though! She posted today that she will be releasing more music snippets next month. Stay tuned…
